Virgil Price III

Memorial Reef

On Sunday May 12, 2024 Virgil M. Price, III, Age 39, tragically disappeared at sea while free-diving and spearfishing near a World War II shipwreck off of Florida's Atlantic coast. He was an incredibly skilled freediver and instructed many people on the sport as a part of Florida Freedivers. From an early age he was drawn to music, wildlife and the ocean. He was adept at multiple different instruments including piano, bass guitar, and mandolin to name a few. He shared his gift of music while playing in local bands. Virgil's fun-loving playful spirit touched the lives of so many throughout his all too brief 39 years.

Virgil’s family commissioned Reef Cells to build a memorial reef in Virgil’s honor to be deployed in early 2026. The memorial reef will include a 5 ton reef module featuring a life size sculpture of Virgil surrounded by six or more additional habitat reef modules.

The module will feature numerous habitat opportunities. It will be constructed of 100% ocean friendly concrete and limestone and weigh approximately 6 tons.

How our Frag Plugs Work.

New Coral Lok frag plugs are revolutionizing the way living corals are attached to underwater reefs. These coral fasteners can immediately attach a living coral to a coral reef with a simple twist. The screw shaped base of the Coral Lok frag plug is designed to easily and securely mate into the female threaded Coral Lok receiver. The coral is fixed and ready to grow over the plug base and onto the reef rock
